Dr. Arun Verma, M.B.B.S., M.S. is a senior eye specialist of Amritsar, Punjab, India He did his Masters in Ophthalmology in 1978 and after that he has been in private practice. He has performed more than I,00,000 (1 lakh) intraocular operations till date and has conducted more than 400 eye surgical camps in Punjab,Haryana,Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. He has receieved laurels from state governments, the most outstanding being the state awards which he received on republic days for three consecutive years i.e 1991,92,93 by Chief Minister and the Health Minister  of Haryana for the maximum contribution for removing curable blindness in the state of Haryana. He was nominated for the coveted post of advisor to the Government of Haryana in the year 1993, a rare distinction to be given to a private practitioner.

He has been instrumental in promoting eye donations, both in anmritsar and yamunanagar, wher he set up a most scientific eye bank and performed more than 400 eye trasplantation there , the first in the state of haryana. His motiveation for eye donation at swami nirmal eye bak and eye hospital at amritsar has brought many voluntary eeye donations.

Apart from the routine eye surgeries,dr verma’s main field opf interest is squint,amblyopia and paedriatic ophthalmology. His research papers have been published in various national and international journals. His papers have been presented in national and international conferences. He has conducted workshops and instructional courses. He has written a number of books. Recently he has written 6 chapters of ophthalmology for a very prestigious internet journal, E Medicine.
